Will-O-The-Wisp

Going to quote Wikipedia for this one:

In folklore, a will-o'-the-wisp is an atmospheric ghost light seen by travellers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes. The phenomenon is known in English folk belief, English folklore and much of European folklore by a variety of names, including jack-o'-lantern, friar's lantern, hinkypunk and hobby lantern and is said to mislead travellers by resembling a flickering lamp or lantern. In literature, will-o'-the-wisp metaphorically refers to a hope or goal that leads one on but is impossible to reach.

Down the 285 from Tiny Town is Will-O-Wisp, Colorado. I saw the welcome sign and, of course, wrote it down.

Now, of course, I can’t exactly say in a cute listing like this why the definition of this title hits me kind of hard, but I will say that this painting means a lot. I got to experiment with colors over and over and ultimately distort a nonfictional place I hold close to me into something completely new and beautiful. Painting with a somewhat arbitrary color scheme was refreshing, and allowed me to have more freedom with how I interpreted the landscape.
