The Poet & The Poem
Marisa Jorgensen is a writer from Canada who plans on studying creative writing and publishing. She loves to tell stories through everything she creates, and often experiments with different types of poems and a variety of forms. She hopes to inspire people and have them immerse themselves in many feelings and other worlds when they read her words. When she isn't writing, she enjoys reading, listening to music, painting, crocheting, and photography.
when the world feels heavy
my bones tremble
under the weight
of these stories
my stomach rumbles—
i have swallowed
too many stars
i have made a habit
of handing light
out like candy
yet my eyes strain
beneath the bright sun
my fingers are
grasping onto air
but the poet in me
thinks there’s something
else there
perhaps i am holding
hands with a ghost
there is some invisible
force reaching for me
trying to keep me close
my heart bleeds
and i think
nothing of it
this will just
become another
forgotten day
