Let’s recap!
The Extra Credit art retreat was not just for working creatives, it’s for those who feel as though their art appreciation has been put on the back burner. We spent a weekend building something great.
During Extra Credit, we discussed branding, we dove into art galleries, we talked about purpose, and we created vision boards. Artists guided us through constructive workshops and we were led through galleries filled with work that inspired and encouraged our souls.
Day 1: Welcome / Coffeeshop Night
Day 2: Gallery Extravaganza
Day 3: Workshops
-
During this workshop, we learned about fonts, color palettes, brand voices, and how you want your audience to feel when they see your name. We looked at examples from thriving creatives and made informed decisions about our own brands from them.
-
Creating mood boards can be extremely helpful for setting the tone for the work you want to make, or the way you’d like to present it to your audience. In this workshop, we crafted together and helped each other figure out what our brand vibes look like in a visual context.
-
The work you create is beautiful, meaningful, stunning, and full of talent. But sadly, that means nothing to your audience if the photography of the work is subpar. It can take months of tweaking and learning to get the photo side of the business down. This workshop gave us the confidence and ability to create beautiful images that will move our people.
-
Create a community
Part of this retreat is building a small community of artists and art appreciators who are all eager to learn the ins and outs of creating great work and executing creative marketing. YOU make this community more interesting, more well-rounded, and more full.
-
Art appreciation
We visited both contemporary and historic galleries and museums and learned from professionals about current exhibitions.
-
Explore your style
The most important part of this retreat is implementing of elements of renowned artists’ styles in your own work. Through touring museums and studying various mediums, brushwork, and techniques, your distinct artistry will expand and thrive.
-
Create your brand
Learning the basics of fonts, palettes, and photography are extremely important when it comes to the actual selling of your work, no matter what medium or project you’re focused on.
Creating a cohesive brand vibe establishes exactly what you’re about and how you want your desired audience/buyers to feel. It’s easy to get swept away by all the options when it comes to fonts and colors. Through a mini and concise workshop, we tackled this together!
Without excellent photography, your audience does not get to experience your work fully and is left feeling like they’re missing something. During this retreat, we learned from a professional about the shortcuts of this side of the business, and giving you the confidence and ability to create beautiful images that will move your people.
